• Top class breeding behind him - Knights Blackbird 9Y and Coldstream Lady Heather, 365 and Samurai. All top breeders of modern times

• The track record of his sire Blacksmith is impressive with a substantial number of sons and grandsons in pedigree herds including Ellerman B531, Supreme Champion at Perth February 2004, purchased by Ballathie for 28000guineas

• Hermes dam, Lady Heather W46, is one of the breeds top females and has several sons in pedigree herds including Lord Hornblower Z494, Senior Champion at Perth, now stock bull at Ballathie and Lord Hildago A234, Reserve Intermediate Champion at Perth, now stock bull at Tofts. Two of her daughters were Royal Show breed and interbreed Champions in 2003 and 2004 and Supreme Champion at the Great Yorkshire in 2004
